How Do Design Firms Work?

It is frequently assumed that hiring an interior designer is an expensive venture. But often it is the most cost-effective way to complete a space. A professional brings knowledge and experience to a project that will actually save time and money. Interior Designers possess useful resources not available to the general public. And…the end result will be above and beyond what the non-professional could achieve alone.

Designers begin by eliciting detailed information about the client’s desires and their daily lives. Then these facts are used to create plans for the new space. An interior designer will provide comprehensive drawings, documentation, budgets, schedules, and specifications that can help avoid mistakes, unnecessary change orders, time delays and budget overruns. In addition, they know the best local contractors, builders, and tradespeople and will be able to speak their language.

Why work with a designer in addition to your contractor and architect? Your designer is your advocate during the construction process. We’ve listened to the way you want to live, and we work with you to ensure that the room sizes and layouts actually function within your requirements. Have you ever moved into a new home only to discover that there isn’t a single wall for grandmother’s highboy or a space for your Hockney painting? We help you avoid these small problems, as well as the larger ones such as discovering that rooms which will be seldom used are too large and those which are frequently used won’t accommodate.

Location, Location, Location

Based out of the South Bay, we work with clients from Malibu to San Pedro, including the cities of Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, and the entire Palos Verdes Pennisula. While our work is normally based in the South Bay, we have worked as far away as the East Coast and Europe.
